Year 6 visit the Houses of Parliament to deepen their understanding of democracy.

On Thursday 28th January 2019, Year 6 were given the exciting opportunity to watch MPs and The Lords debating real issues, that affect our country as well as our local area, in The Houses of Parliament.

The whole class trooped into London by train and underground to Parliament, where they were given a most informative tour of both the House of Common and the House of Lords.

They sat in the gallery of both Houses and experienced real life politics that they had only seen before on the television.

After their tour, they were able to take part in a drama production of their own party election, culminating in electing a prime minister and setting out their manifesto for more houses for the homeless.

The visit was ended with a personal visit from Rochester and Medway’s local MP, Kelly Tolhurst, who was very good at describing her role and answering the classes questions.  A great learning experience for All involved!Your preferences have prevented this content from being loaded.
